Details

Incident Details. In Tunisia, many hand grenades and mines had been recovered. These were transported by two three ton lorry's, to a safe place for disposal. The bomb load explodedwhilst being unloaded, killing all bar Les Stokes, who had gone to the cab to get a hat.

Husband of Ada May Genty of Forest Gate, Sussex. Died on the 10th June 1943. Buried at Medjez-El-Bab War Cemetery. Joint Grave 7 C 7.

    Wrong details Died whilst dumping unserviceable enemy ammunition at sea. A detonation occurred for no apparent reason.
    Sergeant G H Sim, Lance Corporals G Ferguson, J Sinclair, R V Whitefield, Sappers J Keen, T W Littler also died at this incident, in Tunisia. Les Stokes survived he had gone into the cabin to get a cap.
