Note:
Sapper W. Pearn died whilst dealing with a 500lb British bomb fitted with a type 37 pistol. Sapper’s F.G. Biddle, P. Carney Sergeant H. Evans BEM, Corporal J.A. Johnston, Sapper G.W. Rice and Lieutenant B.M.M. Sinclair also died at this incident.

He was my great uncle,who my dad was named after. My dad was born just a few months after Willie Pearn died. In 1967, while holidaying in Salerno,my mam & dad visited the cemetery in Salerno & found the grave. They were the first in the family to see it.
