Son of Robert James Hawes and Annie Kate Hawes: Husband of Sarah Ethel Hawes of Ipswich, Suffolk. Died on the 25th February 1945. Aged 27. Sappers J.J. Collin and Lance Sergeant H.T. Sawford also died at this incident. Buried at Jonkerbos War Cemetery. Grave 15 C 7. Jonkerbos War Cemetery.

    Kenneth Hawes is my husbands father. My husband named Melvyn Kenneth Patrick Hawes. He was two when his father was killed. Always told it was a mine that exploded but would like to know more. Kind regards, Liz
