Died whilst clearing mines laid as part of the anti-invasion measures around the UK. One of the two men involved trod on a mine that had been missed. Possibly the mine had missed detection when turning of the flat onto a slope at Coney Hill Suffolk.
Lance Corporal E Lenton also did at this incident.
