Son of Teddy and Sophia Buchanan of Colne: Husband of Alice Buchanan. Died on the 30th September 1943. Aged 32. Buried at Trawden Methodist Cemetery. Section B Grave 90. Note: Sapper J. Buchanan, Lance Sergeant F. S. Galloway, Sapper H. R. Jones, Lieutenant W. E. K. Kenway and Lance Corporal A. Raynor all died at this incident. Mine clearance operations.

    Died clearing mines laid as part of the anti-invasion measures in the UK. No evidence to show how the explosion occurred. Verdict accidental death. Angmering on Sea, East Preston, Surrey.
