Son of Charles and Alyce C. Blaney of Newry. B.E. National University of Ireland Died on the 13th December 1940. Aged 30. Buried at Newry Old Chapel Roman Catholic Cemetery. Old Ground.

    I believe my grandfather, Lieutenant Herbert James Hunt, succeeded Captain Michael Blaney after he was killed in action in December 1940. Capt. Blaney had been a welcomed visitor to my grandparents home in Upminster and they, and my mother, remembered him fondly when speaking of him to me when I was young. I remember my grandparents being in contact with his family for many years after the war.
