For years we have and still do struggle at times with recruitment to the branch, but why so lets explore a few myths.
It is there for the old timers
Myth 52% of our members are between 40 to 60.
True only 2% are 30 and below
So the youngsters don't join as they feel the middle aged old men are boring and the middle aged men think the old generation are boring and we end up without a branch.
Why because it stagnates, no new ideas come through as we do not understand each other. In another 10 to 15 years you on the school bus will be running this branch so why not try and influence its development now?
Myth i cannot afford it. I am sure it is not the £5 a year that puts you off?
Meetings only at Carver or London Area, true.
We are a National Branch and come under the London Group, but with more members we could see where groupings of members were around the country, put you in contact with each other, you could then get together and we could look at moving the AGM for example around the country. But we need you to join and want to take part.
Why is the Branch called Bomb Disposal when it has been Explosive Ordnance Disposal since 1969, because it is our history it is where we came from. It is something we I know are proud to have served or are serving in.
Myth well look at the site loads of bits on WW11. Look again there are other periods mentioned and more will be added but we need you to send us photos, with descriptions stories of your service, we cannot do it without you.

So why join, because without you we have no Branch, we have nowhere for you in the future to do what you wish to keep in contact and get together. Re-building from scratch takes time and a lot of effort, influence and shape what we have now for your tomorrow.
