Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the site for. It has two main functions, one to be a central contact point for all BD/EOD, ex or serving. To share photo's, stories, catch up on what is going on and is the home of the Royal Engineers Association Bomb Disposal Branch. For both functions it is a good way  to get information to a wide audience, quickly. It also gives through the guestbook and forums an interactive chance for all to join in. It is everybody's site as webmaster i am just here to attempt to reflect what you would like to see on your site.

General Questions.

Q 1. What is the cost to me.
A 1. Not a penny.

Q 2. Who does the site belong to.
A 2. It belongs to the Royal Engineers Association, Bomb Disposal Branch. However you do not have to belong to the Branch to use it. Yes it would be nice to see you join us, but there is no pressure.

Q 3. Who and why are you the web master.
A 4. I am Pete (Fossil) Marham, served from 72/87, was in EOD from 82/7 both in 49 and one of the original members of 58. I found some years ago the old 33 msn site and after asking the RE Webmaster to add a few pages, was asked to run it. Since then the Branch Committee asked me to run the site for them and the position comes up for re-election each April at the AGM.

Q 4. Why move from msn.
A 4. The old msn site's are being shut down and moved to Multiply, this new way of doing things did not give us the usage that we wanted, so we moved here instead. Possibly better out there but for the cost it gives  us more that we probably need at this time.

Signing In.

Q 1.  Why no sign in.
A 1. Signing in served no real purpose on the last site and many kept forgetting their details. Yes it stopped some spammers by banning them, but they just signed in again. The old msn site being a commercial site set up by msn had a wide audience so great for spammers to send messages out to all in the group. On this site limited audience, no adverts, no facility to put a message on which goes automatically out to all. Downside i am going to have to check daily and remove anything that should not be on here.

Forums.

Q 1. Why can i not open my own forum.
A 1. Freeola does not give this facility on it's set up.

Q 2. How do i get a forum opened.
A 2. Go to the contacts page, send a message to the webmaster, stating name for forum and first message and it will be added,  hope to follow through with requests within 24 hrs.

Q 3. Gone to forums and the one i am looking for is not listed.
A  4. Firstly at top of page go to box marked select a month as it may have been opened earlier. If not on any of the months ask the webmaster to open a new forum for you.


Contacting old mates.

Q 1. How do i contact old mates.
A 1. There are a couple of ways, check through the forums and you will see that a section is open for all Sqns including the TA, DEOD's and Friends of 33 EOD. If your mate is on there and he has added his e-address just e mail him. If no contact details ask the webmaster as he may have them and forward your request to contact.
If not on contact page, check the looking for page, where there is at the moment one list of which the webmaster has e-addresses. A second A to Z will be added as soon as possible with names of those on other site's which the webmaster is a member of. Again let the webmaster know who you would like to contact and he will pass your request on.

Q 2. Privacy, i do not want others to know my contact details.
Again a couple of ways you can do this. You can just visit the site have a look around and see what you want with no details added. Or you can either put basic details on relevant Sqn forums without contact details and hope somebody leaves you a message. Finally, leave your name on forums page ask the webmaster to add it to the looking for page, give the webmaster your e-address and he will forward any requests to you. In this last way you can reply to a request or ignore, but your details will not be known by any other party.

Q 3. Where does the webmaster store my details.
A 3. On a disc, one at home password protected.

Photo Gallery's.

Q 1. How do i get my photo's added.
A 1. E-mail them to the webmaster, with titles and descriptions you want and he will add them. Also give if possible a year Sqn and a section you would like to see them in or a new section added to the gallery.

Q  2. Why have not all photo's got details with them.
A 1. Simple answer, i had to take all photo's from the old site across individually, i have got the old titles and descriptions but have not had time so far to ad them all.
