25th December 2016

 

It with great sadness that we inform you that Pete Richardson passed away following his battle with cancer. 

Branch condolences have been sent and our  thoughts are with the family at this time.

Furneral Details:

 

Date: Friday 13th January 2017

Venue: Cambridge Crematorium (off the A14)

Time:  14:15 Hrs

 

Dress:  Please feel free to wear medals and berets or you may just prefer to wear BD or Corps tie.

Brance Standard : Branch Standard will be present.

 

 

4th November 2016


 

On the 4th November 2016, members of the branch attended the Llanelli War Mememorial Unvailing and Dedication Ceremony in Llanelli. Cpl Jamie Kirkpartrick , killed in Afghanistan on the 27th June 2010, was one of the 15 names enscribed on the memorial.

 

 

26th October  2016

 

Sadly we inform you of the sudden passing of WO2 Ray Cornell suddenly on the 15 October, Ray served in 33 Engr Regt EOD till 1982 and was proud of his service.

 

Branch condolences have been sent and our  thoughts are with the family at this time.

 

 

29th July 2016

 

13045939 Lance Corporal William George Wathen. Aged 100. Bill enlisted in July 1940 demobbed July 1946 Served in Bomb Disposal. Talking to his family he as numerous others who served through the war, did not talk of his service times.
He only shared one story of digging down to a bomb using timber shafting, as they cleared the hole and walked away it exploded and rained bits of timber around them.

 

The family welcomes any one who wishes to attend, berets and medals may be worn. The Branch Secretary will be attending and taking the Branch Standard. 101 ERRA Standard also welcome.

Afterwards all are invited to a nearby public house the Eagle.

 

If you are able to attend can you please email the Branch Secretary.Regiments are being informed and I know if possible representation will be there.

28th June 2016

 

Sadly Capt John Paul passed away on the 26 June aged 96. John was possibly the last of the Wars BDOs.

8th June 2016

 

Sadly we must inform you that Bruno Edwards has passed away.  He was born in 1938 and served in BD as a National Service man. Many of you will remember him marching a couple of years ago at the Cenotaph. In his own words he was a silly Sapper missed first parade (breakfast) and had to drop out but was cared for by some of the Branch. His funeral took place on the 21 June in Tonbridge,
